Description:

Teaching behavioral health in early childhood and beyond has a direct and measurable impact on school safety. Helping young children understand and manage emotions, build healthy relationships, and cope with stress reduces aggression and bullying, creates a positive school climate, reduces long-term risk factors for violence, and supports early intervention. Explore implementation of behavioral health practices as it pertains to school safety through the lens of the evidence-based Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework. Learn how to identify students with signs of developmental delays and strengthen family and community partnerships to support struggling students at Tiers 2 and 3. Lastly, understand the importance of screening, teaming and intervening with school-aged children to identify risk factors and reduce risk.
